Mountain Village Town Manager Paul Wisor to step down
During the Town of Mountain Village’s annual directors’ retreat, Town Manager Paul Wisor informed staff that he intends to step down from his role in summer 2024.
Wisor will resign to return full-time to the Vail Valley to be with his family. He is committed to remaining in his role through the end of July and possibly longer to ensure a smooth transition.
“This was a very difficult decision for me as my time in Mountain Village has been transformational for me professionally and personally,” Wisor said. "Working on incredible projects, such as Meadowlark, the gondola, Village Court Apartments Phase IV, and the wastewater treatment plant, just to name a few, in such a beautiful place, has been an honor. But more importantly, the relationships I’ve built within this organization and community have made my time here so significant.”
Wisor would like to emphasize that he remains deeply committed to Mountain Village and the Telluride region as a whole.
“While I struggle with this change, I am confident that the directors, supervisors, managers and front-line staff will continue to provide amazing service to our residents, businesses, and guests and continue to work to elevate the Mountain Village experience.”
Wisor joined the Town of Mountain Village as the town attorney in the fall of 2020, stepped into the role of interim Town Manager in the fall of 2021 and was officially hired as Town Manager on January 20, 2022.
During his time as Town Manager, Wisor tenaciously pursued numerous goals for the Town while collaborating with regional partners. Those goals included (but are not limited to) developing community housing at Meadowlark at Mountain Village and Village Court Apartments, working on long-term gondola planning, working with the Town of Telluride on the future of the regional wastewater treatment plant, negotiating and implementing managed parking and amending the Comprehensive Plan.
The Town of Mountain Village will conduct a nationwide search to fill the position and has hired Kathy Fry, a leadership coach and HR consultant already working with the Town, as the Town Manager Transition Consultant to assist with the leadership change. The position was posted to the Town’s website on Wednesday, May 15.
“Paul has been an incredible leader in his role as Town Manager,” said Mountain Village Mayor Marti Prohaska. “Because of his leadership, we have a really strong team at Mountain Village, and my greatest hope is that we honor Paul’s legacy as a leader and find the next person to fill this role with his level of dedication and passion.”
