Town Council to consider second reading of a revised ordinance regarding proposed charter amendments
At its next regular monthly meeting on Thursday, July 18, the Mountain Village Town Council will consider a second reading of a revised ordinance proposing five ballot questions that could amend the Town Charter.
At its last meeting, the Council approved the ordinance's first reading but decided to hold the vote on changes to the charter at the next regular Town election on June 24, 2025, instead of holding a special election this fall or winter.
During the first reading, Council also chose to remove the ballot measure proposal moving the Town’s regular election from the last Tuesday in June to the last Tuesday in July. On first reading Council amended the ordinance to add a fifth question regarding the issuance of revenue bonds.
The new ordinance includes the following five charter amendments for voters to consider next summer:
- Allowing property owners holding property in LLCs or trusts to vote like other non-resident property owners
- Clarifying the effective dates of ordinances
- Allowing publication of ordinances via the Town website rather than by newspaper
- Reconciling a conflict between the Town Code and the Charter regarding Design Review Board member terms
- Authorizing the issuance of revenue bonds without an election
